Al-Qalam University, Katsina has; described as false a social media post in circulation alleging the kidnap and killing of its students insisting that; “none of its student; is reported missing”, kidnapped or killed by; any parent or security personnel.”
A statement from the public affairs department of the Al-QALAM University said; the university had contacted some relevant sources and yet no any information confirming the incidence.
The message in circulation said; 9 students of the AL-QALAM University were on Saturday; kidnapped along Kankara to Dutsinma road.
Another fake news; been; peddled, said “of the nine, four; have been; killed and a N20million ransom has; been; placed; on the remaining five in captivity.
According to the statement, “Similarly, there has not been any report received by the AL-QALAM university from parents of any student in connection with the kidnap.”
It added that “this is the update we can give for now as further efforts are on to come up with more facts surrounding this social media rumour.”
When contacted, the state’s Police Command spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, said; the information is just another fake news that; cannot; be substantiated. “No report in that regard was; received by police,” he added.
