Bauchi state government has purchased Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms worth N29 million for secondary schools students.
Speaking before distributing the forms to 5,000 students, Commissioner of Education, Professor Haruna Abdullahi Danwaka, said; the forms were meant for students who performed exceptionally well in previous mock examination.
According to Bauchi State governor, students that scored five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics which was; the prerequisite, were selected from various schools as beneficiaries. It was the first-ever free forms by the state.
In his remarks, the chairman of the Distribution Committee, Alhaji Nuruddeen Abdullahi, commended Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abubakar for the initiative which he said would make it easier for students to seek admission into higher education.
Abdullahi, who is also; the Director, Examinations, Ministry of Education called on the beneficiaries and their parents to utilise the opportunity wisely.
Speaking on behalf of schools teachers, Principal, General Hassan Usman Katsina Unity College, Musa Maigyada, said the idea would encourage students to perform better.
