The members of the house of representatives on Tuesday passed to second reading of the bill seeking to establish a federal university in Aba, Abia State .
Abia state as a conventional university has restricted programmes, limited and focused; facilities to ensure equity and access to tertiary education.
And for this the member representing Obingwa, Osisoma Ngwa; and Uguanagbo Nowa federal constituency, Hon Solomon Adaelu. While heading the debate on the federal principle of the bill Adaebu said that Abia state lacked; Viable federal government presence.
According to him, the only institution of higher learning owned; by federal government was Michael Okpara University Of Agriculture. He say that Aba due to Industrial and commercial nature needs; a conventional university to enable its residents study courses like Engineering and Law.
The university in Abia Michael Okpara. Abians are desirous to study law, Engineering and other conventional courses; Abians no longer study these government presence .
Other lawmakers who include Hon. Nkem Abonta, Hon Nnenna Ukaje and Ossy Prestige while; contributing to the debate also said that Aba deserve a federal university.
