Secondary school students representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Ondo State have qualified for the semi-final stage of the on-going 2018 Cowbellpedia Mathematics Television Quiz Show.
In a statement by the organizers, Chiedozie Uzochukwu of Nigerian Tulip International College, Abuja, got the semi-final ticket for FCT at the preliminary Group D of the junior category while Ayomiposi Adiji of Preston International School, Akure, representing Ondo State in the senior category advanced to the next stage.
Gabriel Akogun of Welkin International School, Ota, Ogun State joined Chiedozie in the junior category semi-final, having emerged top ahead of four other participants: Timi Charles-Okhide of Federal Government Girls College, Imiringi, Bayelsa State; Fatima Musa Machina of Elkanemi College, Maiduguri, Borno State; Janet Ode of Scholars College, Ota, Ogun State; and Lotoni Adewara of Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Model College, Ilorin, Kwara State.
Fourteen-year-old Chiedozie, who scored 100 per cent in the qualifying examination held in February; explained that his parents have been his source of inspiration; in the study of Mathematics. He said he regularly spends six hours every day to study; to expel the fear of Mathematics from him.
On his part, Gabriel, who scored 97 per cent in the qualifying examination; said he aspires to study aeronautic engineering; and he is confidence about his ability to win the ultimate prize.
In the senior category, Amarachukwu Aronu of The Ambassadors College Ota, Ogun State qualified for the semi-finals along with Ayomiposi.
The Competition, which is being sponsored by the Cowbell Milk, a brand of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, is now in its 20th edition.
