The House Of Representatives passed the second bill to establish Federal University Of Technology, Ogaja.
Rep Jaarigbe Agom who led the debate said when passed into law, the bill would assist in extending infrastructure in existing universities.
He said there is need establish more universities given by high number of students seeking admission in higher institutions.
The lawmaker Ogoja /Yala said the bill could bring about engagement in the area.
He also stressed the need to convert identified first generation polytechnic to universities to bridge the existing gap and increase the admission space available.
The would absorb the backlog of students seeking admission into universities.
REP. Emmanuel Orker Jev said the house currently had many outstanding bills on establishment of federal universities.
He said additional universities would require more resources.
The bill was adopted by the members when it was; put to voice vote by the Speaker, Mr Yakubu Dogara.
It was; referred to committee on tertiary education.
