Like the saying, ‘a healthy nation is a wealthy nation,’ Lagos State Government in collaboration with the Fidson Healthcare Plc has stressed the importance of good nutrition among Nigerian school children as a major factor to developing education and guaranteeing better future leaders.
Assorted fruits Addressing journalists during the 8th Fidson Health Care Astymin Brilliance Reward; ABR, weekend, the Lagos Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule; who stressed the need for healthy diets for growing children, added that when children are; fed with balanced diets, they are automatically bound to be healthy.
Endorsing Astymin as a food supplement, Adebule who was; represented by the Director, Administration and Human Resource, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Mrs. Folashade Lediju said the fact that health is wealth means that Nigerians cannot leave out nutrition in whatever they do.
“Recently, nutritionists are saying ‘make your food your medicine,’ if you are well fed and if you eat balanced diets, automatically you are bound to be healthy and with the Asytmin product that is actually sponsoring the Fidson Healthcare Brilliance Reward, we all know that food supplement is very important especially for growing children.
“Once they are healthy, they will be able to channel their energy into developing themselves, their education will not be a problem because only a healthy and sound mind will be able to access education and develop with it.” Describing the Astymin Brilliance Reward programme as a laudable one, she said Fidson through the project is partnering with Lagos State Government to invest in the future of the children and by extension, the future of the nation.
“Lagos State is not relenting; this year alone, there is a lot that government has put into education because education is the bedrock of development in any society and the future of our children is very important. We are happy today because they investing in the education of our leaders of tomorrow.
The governor has just approved that we recruit 2,200 teachers for both primary and secondary schools. I just want to commend Fidson for the huge resources they have been; pouring into the development of education and our leaders of tomorrow,” she said.
Earlier in his address, the Marketing Manager, Fidson Healthcare Plc, Mr Friday Enaholo said the programme shows Fidson’s unrelenting commitment to supporting Nigerian children in all their academic endeavours through its Astymin brand, in line with the corporate brand promise of adding value to the lives of Nigerians as expressed in its slogan: We value life.
He said the ABR was; an attempt to bring back the glory days of education by throwing its weight behind the children’s drive for academic excellence. He said: Astymin Brilliance Reward was one of the ways the company was; partnering with government and other well-meaning stakeholders to develop the country’s educational system.
At the event, over 200 school children were; given certificates of participation, school bags and writing materials they will need in school. There were a lot of games and music to entertain the children.
