Japan Government Scholarships: There are various scholarships and awards for students who wish to excel in Japan, one of the Asian countries known for offering numerous opportunities to developing regions.
JAPAN GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS 2021 APPLICATION FORM OUT
Some of the scholarships and awards are offered by the Japanese Government and Universities in Japan. However, in this article, I will only focus on fully funded scholarships offered by the Japanese Government.

1. Japanese Government Postgraduate Research Scholarships for Citizens of Sri Lanka
Deadline: June 10th
The Government of Japan is offering a golden opportunity to participate in the Postgraduate Research Scholarships. This bursary is available for students who want to pursue research, masters or a doctoral degree level program.
The awards will provide a monthly allowance of 143,000 yen/month for research students, 144,000 yen/month for a Master degree program, and 145,000 yen/month for a Doctoral program plus supplemental regional allowance of 2,000 or 3,000 yen.

2. Japanese Government (MEXT) program for District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia Residents
Deadline: June 10th
The Embassy of Japan is accepting applications for the DC MEXT Scholarships. The aim of this Japanese Government (MEXT) program is to give a chance for applicants to study in a Japanese institution within the help of their fees and costs.
The scholarship benefits include 117,000 yen/month with a supplemental regional allowance of 2,000 yen or 3,000 yen/month. It also covers tuition fees and other expenses.
. Japanese Government (MEXT) postgraduate placements for the British Citizens
Deadline: June 5th
The bursary is open for the British citizens and aims to support applicants pursuing a postgraduate degree program in their interested field and building a bright future.
The bursary will cover matriculation and tuition fees allowance, ¥143,000/month to each student, and also offer a six-month Japanese language course.

4. Japanese government awards for Indian Students in Japan
Deadline: May 13th
Japanese Government is offering scholarships for the brightest Indian students who want to study a research/masters/Ph.D. course in different fields in Japan.
The grant will cover the tuition fee of the course with the amount of 144,000 Yen/month.

5. Japanese Government Scholarships for Undergraduate, Research & Masters International Students
Deadline: June 30th
The Japanese Government’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology offers scholarships for academic study in Japan to international students interested to study at Japanese universities as undergraduate, research or masters students under the Japanese Government Scholarship Program.

6. Fully Funded Japan Africa Dream Scholarships for Young Africans in Japan
Deadline: August 31st
The new Japan Africa Scholarship (JADS) Program is now available for all new African students to pursue two years master degree program. This is a fully funded scholarship available to study in Japan.
The program provides tuition, a monthly living stipend, and round-trip airfare, health insurance, and travel allowance.

7. ADB-Japan Scholarship Program for Developing Countries in Asia and Pacific
Deadline: Varies
The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) aims to provide an opportunity for well-qualified citizens of ADB’s developing member countries to undertake postgraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at participating academic institutions in the Asian and Pacific Region.
The ADB-JSP provides full tuition fees, a monthly subsistence and housing allowance, an allowance for books and instructional materials, medical insurance, and travel expenses.

8. Japan Human Resource Development Scholarships (JDS) for Developing Countries in Asia
Deadline: October 31st
The JDS Program aims to provide nationalities of Kyrgyz Republic, Myanmar, Laos, Mongolia, Philippines, Republic of Uzbekistan, Republic of Tajikistan, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and Cambodia with opportunities for academic research at Japanese higher educational institutions under the Grant Aid assistance by Government of Japan.
The scholarship shall include institution expenses (tuition fees, admission fees), traveling and seminar allowance, book allowance, an arrival allowance, etc.

9. UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers’ Fellowship Programme for Developing
Deadline: November 30th
The Government of Japan offers 10 fellowships to be awarded to deserving candidates from developing countries, special attention will be given to those who may wish to pursue their research studies in Japan. The fellowship provides US$10,000 to selected candidates.
The amount is to be paid in two or three installments and it is intended to cover research costs only.

10. United Nations/Japan Long-term Fellowship Programme Post-graduate study on Nano-Satellite Technologies (PNST) for Developing Countries
Deadline: January 20th
The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs and the Government of Japan in cooperation with the Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech) have established a United Nations/Japan Long-term Fellowship Programme on Nano-Satellite Technologies for nationals of developing countries.
The selected candidates will each receive a grant under the Japanese government scholarship of about 144,000 yen/per month to cover housing and other expenses.
