Job Description
The Data Driven Investing Team within Active Equities is responsible for conducting data-driven investment research and implementing discretionary investment strategies leveraging this research. We are currently seeking driven and intellectually curious individuals who want to be part of a growing and passionate team that is developing industry leading approaches to discretionary investment research.
We are recruiting for an Associate/Senior Associate to conduct data-driven investment research as part of an investment team. The goal is to help make better investment decisions by drawing proprietary insights from data.
Role Specific Accountabilities
- Conduct data-driven investment research on industries and companies across sectors
- Develop and maintain new data sources (proprietary and other)
- Blend non-traditional sources of data with discretionary investment research to generate impactful and actionable investment ideas
- Participate in meetings with the management of public corporations, industry experts and analyst calls
- Prepare analytical investment reviews and recommendations in collaboration with the team, including industry overviews, written investment rationales and due diligence reviews
- Develop company financial models and perform valuation analysis, including DCF models and comparable company analysis; apply statistical analysis to support investment decisions
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will possess 2-5 years of experience working for an investment management, private equity, investment bank or management consulting firm
- Advanced university degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Mathematics/Statistics or other quantitative field preferred, combined with an education in business (accounting/finance)
- Strong research, analytical, financial modeling, valuation, problem solving skills and ability to think creatively
- Proficiency with one or more programming languages such as Python (pandas), R, SQL and very proficient working with datasets/API’s to conduct research
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented with an ability to produce high quality work
- Creative and logical thinking
- Interest in applied machine learning
- Ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment and be a self-starter
