KADPOLY TO BEGIN FRESH MOVES HOUSE OF REPS SAYS

The House of representative has commenced fresh move to convert the Kaduna Polytechnic to a Federal university of technology.

The bill on the matter which was sponsored by ABBAS Tajudeen has passed second reading and has been referred to the committee on the tertiary education for further  legislative action.

Leading debate on the bill , Tajudeen said there had been sustained agitation by the Nigerian public and attempts by successive governments in Nigeria, increase admission spaces among federal universities.

He said for coast effectiveness, conversion of some  first generation polytechnics such as kadpoly to university was more visible.

He said when converted, admission spaces into universities will be increases and that would also align the nigerian

educational system with global practices.

He said the trend all over the world was to covert well-established polytechnics /monotechnics to universities to bridge and harmonize the disparity between them.

The united kingdom from where we borrowed our educational system has converted all the polytechnics to universities.
