A 22-year-old who claimed to be a student of Federal College of Education, Katsina, is now in police net for armed robbery. Aliyu Salisu, who said he was; a 200 level Hausa/ Sociology student of the institution, was; arrested on July 1, 2018 following a robbery incident in Katsina.
According to the state Police Commissioner, Muhammadu Wakili, the suspect was picked up following investigations into an armed robbery attack in the house of one Hajiya Aisah Abdullahi at Sabuuwar Unguwar, Katsina.
The Police Commissioner said Salisu, who was mentioned in the robbery incident, was caught with another stolen vehicle, a Honda CRV with Nasarawa registration number, BE 788 NSR.
The police boss said, “On 1/07/2018, Aliyu Salisu, alias Alious, aged 22 years who has been; on the run, was; arrested in possession of another stolen Honda CRV light green in colour, with registration No. BE 788 NSR and two GSM handsets, property of one Nasiru Lawal of No 11 Sarkin Arewa Street, Dutsen-Safen Low Cost, Katsina.”
Salisu, who was; paraded with other armed robbery suspects at the police command, Katsina on Wednesday, told journalists that he had earlier been; sent to prison for stealing a handset.
He said, “I’m a 200 level Hausa/Sociology student at FCE, Katsina. My father is responsible for my education. He is a civil servant. This would not be my first crime.
“I had earlier stolen a telephone set, was; caught and sent to prison. I was; taking the Honda car to a buyer when I was; caught. This would be; my first time of stealing a car.” The commissioner said Salisu and other suspects would be; charged to court after investigations.
