Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been; advised to be guided by the motto and objectives of the scheme; during their service years so that they could contribute positively to national development.
The Bauchi State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mr Afolayan James gave this charge yesterday during the closing ceremony of the 2018 Batch B, Stream II joint orientation course for corps members deployed to Bauchi and Gombe states at the NYSC permanent orientation camp Wailo, Bauchi state.
He said that the youths had in the course of the three weeks orientation exercise underwent training in Leadership techniques, drills, skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development and advised them to make good use of the knowledge acquired to bring national development
James told the corps members to ensure that they respect the customs,traditions and general ways of life of your host communities so that you can genuinely identify with them and contribute to their development.’’
Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar who was; represented by his Deputy Architect Audu Sule Katagum enjoined the corps members; to join hands with the government in rendering efficient services in areas of health care; education, social and infrastructural development as well as promotion of information communication technology knowledge among teeming youths in the state.
He said, ‘’ We will spare no effort in ensuring that your expertise, competence; and creative minds are; fully explored and redirected towards making our states the pride of the Nation. Furthermore, I urge you to pursue with more vigor; the post camp training component of the skills acquisition programme; that you started during the orientation course’’.
