Compulsory Retirement Of Teachers Over Age Fabrication

    The Bayelsa State government has recommended compulsory retirement for about 158 staff of the Post Primary School Board over age fabrication and other offenses.


    The Executive Chairman of the board, Dr Asiam Blessing Ikuru, disclosed this in Yenagoa during a press conference on the state of schools in the state.



    She said a staff verification committee has established 413 cases of fabrication; and ‘questionable letters of appointment,’ which were; reviewed, and about 158 officials were found culpable.

    She said, “A total of 413 cases of falsification of records in terms of under declaration of age; and questionable letters of appointments were; reviewed, and out of the number, 141 were; cleared and 158 staff were; recommended for immediate retirement.”

    The executive chairman commended the state government; for declaring state of emergency in the education sub-sector; adding that if the audit report in the post primary schools board is; implemented, the board will save about N19,392,640.”


    She explained that the board had a total of 5,980 officials following a personnel audit by a salary regularization committee involving189 schools and zonal boards.
