Nigeria’s Senate president, Senator Ahmad Lawan, has said any security chief who fails to live up to expectation should be relieved of his duties if he refuses to go.

Lawan said the National Assembly supports the allocation of more resources to the security agencies with a view to improving security. He said the Nigerian military and paramilitary agencies need more manpower to check insecurity in the country. He pointed out that the security agencies need more resources to handle the security situation especially in the northern part of the country. Lawan said service chiefs must sit up because Nigerians can’t just go on without any time frame for when the security issues would be resolved.
