Students of the university of Nairobi took to state house road on Thursday to protest the delayed disbursement of higher Education loans Board funds.
The students closed the road and lit bonferies on a move to express their disappointment with the loan’s board. This inconvenienced motorist for some hours.
Police officers were deployed; to ensure the learners do not destroy property or cause; further disruption on the roads. According to the students the money should had been; sent to their accounts by now. Since if it was disbursed; in financial year 2017/2018.
But in the statement on thursday. Charles fingera said that they are; already disbursed approximately 8 billion shillings for 2017/2018 first and second semester to students in various; college and universities.
Mr Ringeria said that the board had written to the university of Nairaobi asking for clarity on reporting dates which seemed to be; different from that which the students claimed.
He said that about few UON campus are yet to reply to the letter hence yet to issue any clarification concerning dates. He help earlier told students with complaints that their university had given dates by the board in planning for disbursement.
Mr Ringera has urged the students to wait until it is; period under which the opening dates fall.
