Bauchi State Government says it has given; unqualified teachers in the state a 3 year grace to obtain the necessary teaching qualification or be; sacked.
The Executive chairman of the state Universal Basic Education Board; Professor Yahaya Ibrahim disclosed this during an interview with newsmen in Bauchi.
Professor Ibrahim stated that since inception, the APC led administration in the state inherited alot of problems in the education sector.
This according to him include unqualified teachers, backlog of unpaid salaries, poor infrastructure and mass failure by students in WAEC AND NECO examinations.
Prof Ibrahim explained that to tackle these challenges, the state government sourced for funds from banks to settle the four month backblog of teacher’s salaries, rescue the primary education sector from collapse and pay the counterpart funds to UBEC.
He said that a massive teacher empowerment programme was; also launched through workshops and seminars to bring the teachers up to date with modern teaching techniques.
The Executive chairman said over 700 class rooms were; constructed in addition to massive rehabilitation of schools across the state.
