Ogundipe, FAS received the Honorable Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Christopher Ogbonnaiya Onu, FAEng in his office ahead of the Commissioning and Handing Over of the Polyurethane Laboratory donated to Central Research Laboratory by Vitafoam today, Monday, September 24·
#EarlierToday The Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS received the delegation of the University of West Indies, Jamaica to the commissioning of the Polyurethane Laboratory .
The visit was led by Sir. Prof. Hilary Beckles, Vice Chancellor of the University of West Indies. In his opening remarks the Professor of History said the visit was to further strengthen the research collaboration between the two universities.
He identified that the people ofJamaicans are enthusiastic about Africans- hav…ing understood well enough that they are Africans themselves. Also, he revealed that this has made them more interested in the culture, arts, and intellectual which is in full dosage in Africa especially Lagos.
He expressed optimism that the partners which was; birthed barely two years will further bring great development; across the most topical issues as it affects the black race. He was; however pleased with the developments and achievements made by the University; in helping to grow the Institute of Africa and Diaspora Studies since its establishments.
Meanwhile the Vice Chancellor Prof. Ogundipe thanked the delegation for coming to see the progress made thus far on the project of building scholars, and enriching our scope in literary and diaspora studies.
The visit was witnessed by top management staff that include DVC, MS, Prof. Ben Oghojagor; Registrar, Oladejo Azeez,Esq; Bursar, Mr. Lekan Lawal; Librarian, Dr. Olukemi Fadehan amongst other dignitaries.
